Malaysia Again

Hi again everyone
Mike and Rosi are back in Langkawi/Malaysia from the working holiday in Australia. After a bumpy flight from KL we arrived in pouring rain and thunder. November is the season between the two monsoons and known for frequent thunderstorms and heavy downpours.
It was dark when we finally arrived at the marina. Finding Jemimah unharmed was a relieve. We were greeted with the Locked –up- boat- smell and total darkness after trying the light switch. Found the torch but the battery was flat. Now, where did we put all the fuses we took out six months ago? Can’t remember! This has to wait till tomorrow. I expected lots of mould inside and was surprised to find very little of it. Let the spring clean begin. It was nice to see our rally friends again. Some stayed during the wet season at Rebak Marina and others went back to their home country. On Friday we enjoyed the Cocktail party the Marina Management put on for all Boaties. Nice food and drinks, all free. They are so nice to us. It took us a few days to adjust to the much higher humidity. After a week of relaxing, swimming and reading, Jemimah was hauled out of the water for the long overdue antifouling. We decided to do the work ourselves without help from locals. We are still young and fit (I think). But first we needed to hire one of Mr Din’s old cars for a trip to Kuah to buy all the paints and accessories. Unfortunately the chandlery at the marina was closed because of a wedding. Everything went to schedule and we managed to do the painting before the storms and rain set in the afternoons. We did not mind the pouring rain while scrubbing off the old antifouling paint. I remembered last time when we not allowed to use a hose for the same job due to water restrictions in Queensland.

Now the fun part behind us, the adventure can begin again. This time by bus or train. We missed out on some cheap flights to Cambodia or Vietnam; we should have booked those many weeks ago. Never mind. They will be offered again. Now we are off to Bangkok and Northern Thailand by bus or train. The plan is to be back for Christmas functions at Rebak and then sail to the Andaman Islands after New Year. Time to move on.
Cheers Rosi and Michael
